What sets BCA apart from other schools?
I have 2 adult children that I put through public school K-12 and there are no similarities except for the fact that the school has all the same children. You don't send your child to BCA because you think the children are gonna be different. You send them to BCA because the environment is different.
What do you love about BCA?
We love the small class sizes, PLUS day activities, and connection with local churches in the community. We love that prayer is part of the daily routine. We love that there is “Good News Club” every week that gets my children excited for Jesus through scripture, crafts, music, and Bible stories. I also love that there are so many opportunities to volunteer at BCA so that I am able to see my children multiple times through the year in their school setting. Outside of volunteering there are still many other opportunities to visit the school throughout the year. Anytime I walk into the school it is a very welcoming environment.
Why did your family choose BCA?
As a public school teacher, our family felt the call to have our children in public schools as well as a mission. We felt strongly that it was our job to be a light in a place that is growing increasingly dark! This worked well for our son and we have no regrets. But, as our daughter was moving through elementary school, God began to change our hearts. Our daughter is one of the kindest, most caring kids who often became overlooked because she was a “good kid”. We could see her confidence slipping, and my heart was breaking as I watched her slowing growing more and more defeated.
It was then that God lead us to Brookside where she was SEEN!! Our first year, her teachers spent the year just building her confidence. They saw the wonderful things she offers and focused on encouraging them. Through that year, a joy I can’t describe flowed from our girl! She went from a struggling, C/D student to an A/B student because she was being trained to take ownership of her learning while being encouraged that “she could do it”!
They say the middle school years are the toughest! Well, for us, they have been the BEST, and it’s all because we followed Gods call to move her to Brookside!
What are ways that BCA has helped your child excel?
Our child came from public school to Brookside in 5th grade. She is now in high school. Her father is a retired public school teacher but we felt the need for a change. We could not be more pleased with the academics. She is challenged and is learning what seems to be on a higher level. They are already learning to write research papers, and they are starting to prepare for the SAT! She also gets opportunities to lead in service projects. Learning how to give is so important.
Her teachers are caring and highly qualified and really get to know her as a person. Her self confidence is growing every year as she matures under the teaching of good Christian scholars.
Now that sports have been added, she has developed a strong, close-knit group of girlfriends that she dearly loves. After a basketball game recently, she said,” I never want to leave Brookside!”
Of course, the day will come when she must leave Brookside and go to college. But I am confident that she will be prepared to face that challenge.
BCA is a treasure. God is using this school to reach many for Christ.
